I was in town for one night to see the ruins and museum. Check-in turned out to be easy, even though I didn’t quite understand the intercom conversation when I arrived. It was off-season, and the hotel across the street was open. The amenities were great and, above all, everything was clean. I could hear noise through the thin walls, though. At 6am, the TV in the room next door woke me up. I don’t think the hotel was at fault, but when I checked my dates on Booking.com again before confirming, the price had gone up by 5 euros in just a few minutes.

The staff were gracious, and our room was well appointed. They even let us pack some breakfast to take along for an early ferry. We loved our short stay at Lato Annex Boutique Hotel. Well done!

Close to both the center and the museums, this is a perfect place to stay while visiting Heraklion. Make sure you don’t miss the Archaeological museum!

They charge €25 for a tiny, clean dog that doesn’t even shed, on a €40 room. That’s excessive, especially in low season, when they must be struggling. Plenty of other hotels let pets stay free. Don’t advertise as pet friendly if you’re going to overcharge people for bringing their pets. Crazy!

I was there in the off-season, so the prices were super cheap. The rooms are typical European style, with just enough space for the bed and luggage, and the bathroom only has room for the toilet and shower. That suited me fine since I was only there to sleep and shower. The location is very convenient, within walking distance of the town square and city center, and I’d recommend staying here. The annex has no front desk, so check-in and breakfast are at the main hotel across the street. Lato has a deal with the Heraklion port that lets you park free in its lot, about a five-minute walk away. You use your keycard to get into the lot.
