Alexandra Guesthouse

The location was the biggest plus: 'Guesthouse Alexandra' is less than a five-minute walk from Hydra port, and there are no stairs to climb on the way, which is unusual on the island. It was surprisingly quiet, too, with no shops, cafes, or restaurants right next door. We spent four nights there in late July. Our room was tidy and clean, and the small bathroom was still very convenient. Staff cleaned daily and provided fresh towels. We also got good use out of the clothes dryer in the inner garden. The room isn’t very spacious, and the double bed takes up most of it. There’s a fridge but no kitchenette, which we understood, though some cutlery would have been welcome. Thanks to 'Guesthouse Alexandra' and its kind people for the hospitality. We’d recommend it to fellow travelers.

My wife, our three-year-old son, and I shared a room, and it was spacious enough for us. The owner was friendly and accommodating, and we had a great stay. There’s a shared kitchen area for snacks and breakfast, though there isn’t much else for cooking. The guesthouse is clean and well maintained, right in the heart of Hydra, close to the port and restaurants.

I was pleasantly surprised, since we booked so late in the season and this was the last affordable place we could find. The rooms were clean and lovely, and the backyard was great. The staff were kind and lovely, too. It’s right in town, with the nightlife next door, but the only sound coming through the window was donkeys braying.

Mr Panagiotis was friendly, upbeat, and great at keeping in touch. The courtyard is a nice place to sit, relax, or read. Everything else was excellent too: clean, comfortable, well maintained, and in a great location. Definitely recommended!
