Nereids Guesthouse

There was just one teabag for our two-night stay, the beds were very narrow and hard, and the shower was tiny, with a curtain that didn't reach the floor. Then overnight rain flooded the place. It needs urgent renovation and waterproofing. The owner just shrugged and said, “it rained,” which made it seem like this happens regularly. He was going to charge us for that night too, but I firmly refused. The place feels stingy.

There are several terraces to choose from, and our room had a small fridge and kettle, handy if you bring your own breakfast. It was quiet, and the hosts knew the island inside out, so try their restaurant recommendations. We stayed four nights during a very warm July; the A/C felt a bit weak, and the shower never got properly cold. Still, we didn't expect everything to be perfect on Hydra.

The guesthouse was easy and scenic to reach on foot, and they welcomed us with an island map plus detailed tips on Greek food, hiking spots, and sweets. If you need anything, one phone call is enough; they really make you feel at home away from home. My first arrival in Hydra was amazing. I recommend it completely.

We spent five brilliant days at Nereid’s Guesthouse and loved how close it was to the port, in a peaceful neighbourhood with lovely restaurants. The room had everything we needed, and coming back to find it clean, tidy, and restocked each time was wonderful. Thanks, Nereids, for making the holiday so special. We can't wait to come back next year!
