Area Blue Beach Apartments

I wouldn't stay here again. The price was far too high for a run-down place with mould, cracks across the walls, and a rusty shower head with no holder for hands-free use. The room service barely cleaned, and they didn't change the towels. They also set aside half the pool every day for the local Greek children's swim school, which was not okay. When I changed my booking from 7 nights to 6, I asked for the €120 difference back. They refused, claiming I'd been given a better room. That excuse was rubbish. There are nicer places nearby, and this was one of our worst stays in Greece.

The location worked well, close to the airport and bus stop, with easy access to an empty beach. The pool was in good condition. But the photos on Booking.com looked at least 10 years out of date. The property seemed abandoned and badly in need of repairs, and we felt seriously misled by the listing. The bed had very uncomfortable old spring mattresses. I had to sleep on a Swimming Pool Float to get through the 7 days. In the bathroom, there was a stink hole and a broken shower holder, and the place looked dirty and old. The kitchen was in such poor shape that we could barely use it. On the balcony, two air conditioning hoods made it impossible to sit while the AC was running. There wasn't even a clothesline, which you'd expect somewhere with a pool and beach. We had to improvise to make things a little better. The beach facilities were another letdown. The listing showed mattresses, sunshades, and a Beach Bar, but the grass was gone, the sunshades were destroyed, and the bar was abandoned. We'd booked hoping for a quiet week, but ended up renting a car to find other beaches. We hope Booking.com will address the misleading photos and require the site to remove them.

We had a great time at Area Blue Beach Apartments. Our room had an amazing sea view, and the pool area was beautiful. The place is well located, near shops and restaurants, and the staff were always happy to help.

The pool, cocktails, friendly bartender, and beach were good. The hotel's service and upkeep were awful, though, and our complaints went nowhere. In 6 nights, the floor wasn't cleaned once. The bathroom was mouldy, there was dirt behind the toilet and dust all over the wardrobe, and the balcony wasn't cleaned during our stay. I had to wash the greasy kitchen things myself. The room was noisy from the plumbing and thin walls, and our door wouldn't even close properly. After midnight there was nobody at reception, so when we had a problem, we were on our own. I only slept 3 of the 6 nights before checking out and moving to another hotel. The manager didn't even try to offer compensation. I would never recommend this place.
