Sunshine Rhodes - All Inclusive

George at reception was really friendly, welcoming, and helpful during our five-night stay. The rest of the experience was a letdown. Our room looked nothing like the one I’d booked in the photo. The floor was dirty, there was toothpaste and tape on the bathroom counter, and the shower was so grimy we had to clean it ourselves. The balcony and its furniture were dirty too, and the stairs up to the room had grime and clumps of hair. The restaurant served the same food for lunch and dinner every day. There were eight trays of hot food and more than 20 salad trays, but the hot dishes never changed and tasted awful. By the second day we were eating out, which was very disappointing on an all-inclusive holiday. Drinks tasted watered down and came in the smallest plastic cups I’ve ever seen, like the ones at a dentist’s. This was a surprise trip for my partner, whose dream destination it is, and the hotel ruined the holiday. It wasn’t worth the money. Maybe things would improve if they focused more on cleaning, making proper food, and sorting out the drinks instead of prepping 20-plus salads, and dealt with the restaurant staff’s attitude. We won’t be back.

The hotel is in a great spot, with a beach right outside. The staff were welcoming throughout our stay, and George 1 and George 2 at reception were especially friendly and always happy to chat. We did have some trouble with the buffet and restaurant food, which was too greasy and covered in oil.

The pools and hotel facilities in the online photos gave a very different impression from what we found. The whole place feels worn out and poorly maintained, and it badly needs renovation and better management. Our room was dirty when we arrived and had a horrible mould smell that stayed throughout our visit. The furniture was very old and worn. Food was low quality, often tasteless, and repeated day after day. After a couple of days we could barely eat there. That’s not what you expect on an all-inclusive holiday. Drinks were just as disappointing: weak cocktails, cheap-tasting alcohol, and tiny plastic cups that meant constant trips for refills. The WiFi barely worked around the hotel, especially in the rooms. For the prices charged in 2026, that’s unacceptable. This didn’t feel like a four-star stay at all, and it was one of our most disappointing hotel experiences. I can’t understand its rating. We’d never return or recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday in Rhodes.

The pools were a highlight, sparkling clear and kept very clean. Grounds staff were working throughout the day, and the whole site looked immaculate. Daily activities were great too, from aqua aerobics and darts to volleyball, water polo, giant chess, and crazy mini golf. The beach is just beyond the pool area and reserved for hotel guests. We spent seven nights at the Sunshine Hotel in Rhodes in May 2026, and the weather stayed around 25 degrees all week. A taxi from the airport, about 12km away, cost €28 for three adults and two large suitcases. It’s an all-inclusive resort, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plus soft drinks, water, beer, wine, and a limited selection of spirits available free all day. Restaurant cleaning staff were excellent, and we could always find a clean table. The area nearby looks a little run down, but there are shops and restaurants just a few hundred yards away worth trying. The Royal was good for lunch and The Garden Restaurant for dinner, both fairly reasonable. We also liked the local Milokleftis Apple Cider, an easy drink on a hot sunny day. The main buffet restaurant was very good, but we wouldn’t recommend the onsite Mamma Mia Al A Carte Restaurant. One visit is included and you pay for later ones, but the food seemed prepared in advance rather than cooked fresh. It was so unappetising that we left the main course unfinished and went to Joni's Place, literally 50 yards from the hotel entrance. The beds were very hard, and it took a few days to get used to them. Some mornings I woke up feeling stiffer and sorer than when I went to bed. Still, we had an excellent holiday and I’d recommend the Sunshine Hotel. For reference, the tourist tax was €10 per room per night, so we paid €70 for seven nights at the hotel on arrival.
