Takis Hotel

It feels more like staying in a family home than a hotel. With the witty owner around, it was like visiting an uncle and aunt. The rooms are clean and comfortable, though the decor is very 60s and probably looked funky 50 years ago. Ours was on the third floor, and climbing up in 38-degree heat was tough for me since I'm very fat. There were no plugs in the kitchen area, so we had to put the kettle on a chair by the bed. Still, everything else was excellent. Strongly suggested.

The room was modern, cozy, very clean, and had a comfortable bed. The older owners were kind and happy to help whenever we needed advice. We chose this family-run hotel because of the reviews and good price, and I admired what the owners had built, so I still give the stay five stars despite some real shortcomings. They are getting older and seem to have less energy to keep this family heritage in top shape. The room lacked a dish towel and proper slicing knives, and the shower pressure was sometimes so weak that it was difficult to wash. At night, the corner outside was really dirty and noisy, with motorbikes and cars playing loud music, though we got used to it. The place could be great with some younger energy to care for it.

The area felt pleasant during the day, though a bit creepy at night. The room was more or less clean, but a few bugs showed up at night. The bedding was old, and the beds and pillows were hard. In our room, at least, there were two small separate beds with a gap between them instead of one large bed.

We felt very welcome here. The owners were gracious and accommodating, and even made excellent coffee. The rooms were clean and cozy, with a kitchenette that had what we needed. It's in a great spot near the market and small shops.
