Mare Blue Hotel

Mare Blue was a great place for a getaway with a friend. The beachfront setting was perfect, and we enjoyed some time by the pool and trying local dishes at the buffet. The atmosphere was lively without being too loud, and the staff made things easy. We had a wonderful time relaxing, exploring, and soaking up the sun in Crete.

We stayed at Mare Blue in Crete for nine days and wished we’d had longer 😁 I’d say the first half of October is a particularly good time for a quality holiday. We didn’t regret choosing the hotel for a single day. The staff were a real highlight. Valentina at reception was professional, kind, and helpful. Maria made great cocktails at the main bar, and Emanuela was working at the beach bar. I hope I’ve spelled her name right, and if not, I’m sorry. The hotel was always clean and well cared for, with the grounds tidied and lawns mowed. It isn’t new, but it’s kept in decent shape. We left with only positive feelings. The cuisine could be repetitive at times, though the chefs also delighted us with seafood, desserts, and other treats. My one complaint about the main restaurant is that some people came straight from the beach in wet, dripping swimsuits, sometimes wrapped in towels, despite the dress code notice at the entrance. It wasn’t pleasant sitting nearby. I hope the management takes this into account. I plan to return with my family, perhaps in another season to compare. I don’t understand the negative reviews. The price matched the quality, and the beach, food, decor, and atmosphere were all excellent. I definitely recommend the hotel, and hope to see the same staff and responsiveness to small comments next season.

The beach is pleasant, with loungers, umbrellas, and an area for snorkelling. The food is fine, and the rooms are tidy and clean. Ms Emmanouela is the best of the team, always smiling and ready to help.

I’m writing about the guests, not the accommodation, beach, or staff. Guests at a five-star hotel stole two plastic clips we use to keep our beach towels in place. I hope they enjoy their holiday with our clips and attach them where I mean well.
