Petra Mare Hotel

The hotel itself was great, from the helpful staff and amazing food to the clean sea, good pool, and plenty of free sunbeds and umbrellas. Drinks at the bars were good and strong, and in most ways the place felt top-notch. The noise from children was difficult for me. I don’t mind kids, but around 30 were screaming at once in the dining area, and some rooms were loud too. I’d suggest having one hour of adult-only dining. Edit: The cocktails were either too sweet or too sour. Aperol was the only one I liked, and even then it tasted good only after waiting for the ice to melt, so they weren’t refreshing.

The staff were so kind and welcoming, and the food was amazing at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There were activities for the kids in their room every day, too. With lovely pools for adults and children and a beautiful spot by the sea, we had a wonderful stay. Everything felt perfect, and I highly recommend it.

The town center was an easy ten-minute walk, with lots of shops and bars that came to life in the evening. Our only bigger inconvenience was the transfer from the airport: we were among the last guests to be dropped off, and it took almost two and a half hours. There are also two small shops in the hotel, open until around 11 pm. We stayed as a couple without children and liked having a separate adults-only dining area. We didn’t take part in the animation, though the animators were friendly and never pushy. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful and welcoming. The food we tried was delicious, with enough choice for us, although the selection wasn’t as large as at some five-star hotels. There’s a smaller snack bar by the pool. We weren’t keen on the ice cream. Beach bar drinks were mostly local alcohol and quite sweet, but Gordon’s gin and tonic was fine. The main bar served international alcohol from 18:00 to 24:00, so the basic drinks were better there. Premium drinks cost extra. Our room looked like the photos. It was cleaned daily, towels were replaced every day, beach towels every other day, and bottled water was topped up daily. The toilet was leaking when we arrived, but maintenance fixed it within half an hour. The beach is directly in front of Hotel Petra Mare, sandy, and slopes gently into the sea. We usually found sunbeds, except twice when we got up very late. There were always enough by the pool. The pool water felt a bit chilly to us, but was still fine. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the hotel, with just a few minor downsides.

We spent two lovely days at Petra Mare and felt very well looked after. The buffet had an impressive range of choices, and the rooms were comfortable, spotless, and well maintained. The pools were a pleasure, especially the infinity pool at sunset, which felt magical. For a quieter break from the children’s laughter, there’s an adults-only beach nearby, and the spa was another great place to unwind. The hotel’s setting right beside the sea is breathtaking. We left feeling like royalty, with our expectations surpassed. Highly recommended!
