Dionysos

The beach is only about 150 meters away, and the hotel has lovely staff, restaurants, bars, and a pool. They’re upgrading the rooms from old-fashioned showers over baths to walk-in showers, which should make the place even better. This was our third visit, and we’re already looking forward to booking a fourth. See you next year, Dionysos. X

The breakfast buffet was just okay, nothing more or less, but the evening activities were a plus. In the building we stayed in, the rooms looked a little dated, though they were tidy and had what we needed. The pools and well-kept gardens felt elegant, with lots of relaxing space. Good value for the price overall.

The staff were friendly and professional, and many have worked here for 10-20 years. The owners’ class and elegance, along with their dedication, made our stay unforgettable. Entertainment was a real highlight, with Greek dancing lessons, cabaret, oriental dancing, and magic shows. There are plenty of places to eat, including Greek cuisine, a souvlaki kiosk, Mexican food with amazing nachos, Maistros Pool Restaurant, Cafe Greco, and Apollo Lobby Bar & Lounge. Breakfast at Amvrosia Restaurant was incredible, with fresh fruit, Greek yogurt, eggs, cheeses, traditional pies, bougatsa, and croissants. Facilities include three pools, a Swim-Up Bar, a kids’ pool, a classic pool, tennis court, and spa with hammam, sauna, and massages. Our room was comfortable, with a couch and partial sea view. Housekeeping was thoughtful and discreet, and kept replenishing the water, coffee, and tea. Dionysus Hotel Ixia Rhodes is well placed, about 15 minutes from Rhodes Airport and close to Rhodes Town.

The pool is probably the best part, a lagoon-style layout winding through the public areas between the buildings, with bridges, trees, and plants all around. It makes the place feel really relaxing. We’ve just left after staying here for the second year in a row, and we love it. It’s great for kids and has a chilled-out family feel, with a good location near the beach and just outside Rhodes. Taxis are easy to get from the hotel, and there’s a bus stop just down the road. It isn’t the newest or flashiest place on the strip, and the buildings are a little dated, but the hotel is spotless. The rooms were cleaned every day. We ate out a lot, so I can’t say much about the food here, though the few meals we did have were decent.
