Villas Kalafatis Apartments

A calm, lovely villa just across from the nicest beach. The apartment is simple and elegant, with everything you need.

There are some really beautiful beaches nearby, and the property sits almost right on the beach in a quiet, nearly isolated area. You just cross a small road that hardly gets used. But the apartment feels dated, and there are hardly any amenities inside: only two small pots and pans, two glasses, and a refrigerator that doesn't work properly. The property is old and needs renovation. Getting there means taking a somewhat rough road. Mykonos is far away, and the drive there is difficult, especially at night. The wind is strong and the noise never lets up.

Our experience was very disappointing. The room we were assigned didn't look like the published photos. It was dark, with dampness, visible rust, and worn facilities, and felt badly neglected. There were two refrigerators inside, one broken and the other only inches from the bed. Its constant noise made it impossible to rest. The place was in poor condition, and no staff were available on site to deal with problems. Based on my stay, I wouldn't recommend it.

The beach was beautiful and deserted at this time of year, but the surrounding area was neglected and full of litter. At the end of the season, this part of Mykonos is deserted and most restaurants are closed, so I wouldn't recommend it then. The little mini-market near the apartment was far too expensive and poorly suited to self-catering, with no fresh fruit or vegetables. The apartment didn't match the online photos: ours was very dark, with a tiny kitchenette and a bathroom that needs renovation. There were no filter bags, salt, or pepper, and not even a bottle of water, which we'd expect from Greek hospitality. The balcony was very small and shared with the neighbors, who played music out there in the evening. And the mosquitoes were still a problem in October. I wouldn't recommend this place if you want even a minimum level of comfort.
