Exotica Hotel & Spa

We stayed in April 2025, and the hotel was fantastic. The room was spacious and the shower was great. There was lots of variety in the all-inclusive food, and they didn't serve the previous day's leftovers again. The pool was lovely, if a little small. I imagine it would get overcrowded in peak summer. Entertainment was decent too, with a Greek night, a band and karaoke.

My wife and I just got back from five nights here. The service was great, our room was really clean and the food was amazing. I can't say a bad thing about the place, and we'll definitely be back soon. My wife has type 1 diabetes and needs to keep her insulin cool. The reception staff made sure my ice pack went in their freezer overnight. I thought that was really amazing, so thank you for doing that for her.

The staff were so friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make us smile. Service was outstanding, and both the food quality and daily choice were excellent. Being five minutes from the airport was convenient, though we could hear and see every plane taking off and landing. That's where my positive feedback ends. This hotel doesn't deserve four stars. I've stayed at three-star places in better condition. The entrance looks dated and the sign needs updating. The rooms aren't child-friendly or soundproof. We could hear everything from rooms above and around us, even with a white noise machine, and there were sharp corners everywhere, so our baby had to stay in the travel cot. My partner and I hurt ourselves at least once a day. There were ants, wasps and mosquitoes all over. Repellent didn't stop mosquitoes from biting both my arms and legs, and we couldn't enjoy a drink at the bar or sunbathe without wasps bothering us. The cleaning was below par: the space under the bed went unswept for three days running, and towels and sheets weren't changed every day. The kettle didn't work properly and was full of scale, so I had to get hot water from the restaurant to make formula. The shower and toilet are screened from the room by a glass panel with no lockable door. It wasn't installed correctly, so water leaked across the floor and into the room. There's no window or ventilation to clear the steam, no shower caddy, no towel racks, and the sink is by the front door. The only thing remotely superior about the room was that it was a little spacious, with an extra single bed we didn't need because we had a travel cot. The separate children's pool was full of debris, and the floor tiles were chipped. My one-year-old couldn't reach the bottom, luckily, but I scraped my knees on it a few times. The gardener also mowed the grass while guests were sunbathing, sending clippings onto a few people. It was disgusting.

We were there in the last week of the season before closing and did enjoy the stay, but there were things that could have been better. The location was great and service was good. The staff were wonderful, the cleaner did a top-notch job, and there was enough choice at breakfast, lunch and dinner for everyone. Meal times worked well for all-inclusive guests too. My son was never hungry, with only an hour or two between meals. The room wasn't what I expected from a four-star hotel. Screws stuck out of my son's bed and hurt him when he forgot they were there. The foyer sofa was dirty and discoloured, the hotel felt dated and needed renovating, and the toilet wall still had the supplier's name on it. There was lots of limescale and mold on the light above the bed. Wi-Fi was painful to use, better at reception and really bad in the rooms. The room phone didn't work, and the information sheet should include reception's number. We asked for it in case we needed it, only to find the phone was out of order anyway. There was a leak in the toilet, so shower water ran into that area. There were no hooks for towels or holders for soap. In the downstairs toilets used by guests checking out, the locks on both stalls were broken and the doors couldn't be closed. One staff member touched my hair. They need to be told that touching Black people's hair is not appropriate and is very offensive. It was one person, but one is too many. Attention to detail matters, and I think the hotel needs to fix several things to be worthy of its current four-star rating.
