Vanessa Hotel

Every summer I come to Zakynthos and stay at Vanessa Hotel, and this visit was delightful as usual. From check-in, the staff made me feel welcome and went above and beyond. They were friendly, professional and genuinely caring throughout, which made for a relaxing stay. It’s a family owed hotel, and they’re all wonderful people, especially Dimitri at reception and Gina at the front pool bar. The location in Kalamaki is ideal for shops, supermarkets, restaurants and plenty of bars, yet the hotel itself was peaceful and quiet. My room was spotless and spacious, the bed exceptionally comfortable, and housekeeping did a great job every day. The outdoor pool was clean and relaxing too. Everything exceeded my expectations, with a lovely balance of comfort, service and atmosphere. I’d happily recommend it and look forward to coming back in summer 2026.

For a family travelling on a budget, this has what you need and is fantastic value for the price. It’s a family hotel right in the middle of the main street in Kalamaki, but don’t expect a modern, five-star residence. The room was large, with a great balcony, and the cooking facilities were typical for Greece but perfectly usable. The shower and air conditioning were very good. There’s a small but nice pool, and the bar service was quick and friendly.

I’d give it zero or minus one star if I could. I don’t know how to describe this properly without leaving something out. Customer service was nonexistent, waits for anything were long, the owner was rude and aggressive, the rooms were dirty, and the price wasn’t good. There were a few positives: the British lady bartender, the pool, and the fact that this was the only place available. I can see why. WiFi isn’t great either.

I come back every year because it’s a great, welcoming place to stay. There’s a big pool for children to play in and adults to relax by. Five stars!
