Horizon Blu

The room was beautiful and the views were great, and the location was amazing. But the spa and indoor pool were closed, breakfast was very disappointing, and the shower wasn’t good. I’d rate the visit 3.5 stars.

Horizon Blu is in a pricier part of town, but I think it’s worth it, especially if you book a room with its own plunge pool. The hotel is right across the street from the beach and has a wonderful, very large pool for all guests. You can walk to town and to plenty of cafes and restaurants. Service is attentive, and the breakfast buffet is abundant. I recommend it to visitors, especially Americans who are used to having all the amenities, including a spa.

My family had an amazing time at this beautiful hotel, and we can’t wait to return. The rooms were spotless and really comfortable, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The food was excellent, too. Its central location made it easy to explore the beautiful city of Kalamata. Highly recommend.

The calm pool area was one of our favorite parts. The chairs were spaced out nicely, and there wasn’t loud club music, so we could actually relax. At a neighboring hotel where friends stayed, the pool was packed, with very loud 90s dance music and kids running everywhere. The hotel itself is beautiful and very clean, with a good-sized shaded parking lot for a rental car. It’s a smaller place, which made getting between the room, lobby, and breakfast area quick and easy. Our room was unusually large for Europe, with lots of storage, a comfortable king size bed, and comfy pillows. We had a small private pool at the side of the building, which felt more private than the pools facing the main pool. Breakfast had enough of everything for us, including baked goods, eggs, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and cheeses, and we had no trouble finding an outdoor table. My husband and I stayed 5 nights at the beginning of August and really loved this relaxing, chill hotel. The service was friendly. I’d say it suits couples better than families with young kids. We’ll be back.
