Chrysorama Rooms

We stayed three nights in the first week of March, outside the season. The taverna was closed, though there were plenty of nearby places to eat. The hosts were very welcoming, and our room was clean, roomy, comfortable, and had good heating and AC, plus a strong shower. The views were great too. Google Translate may come in handy, but if it doesn't, just make that part of the experience.

After dark, we could hear folk music and dancing drifting up from town while we looked out at the rocks. It made for a wonderful evening. The view alone is worth any shortcomings, and breakfast was great. The lady even let us take apples along for our hike. These are lovely people, though knowing a few languages besides English helps with communication.

The balcony was such a peaceful spot, and I sat there listening to the birds for quite a while. The view made my day. Our room was much bigger than I'd expected, big enough for a whole family, and it was cool with AC, which is a must in Greece. Breakfast is included: a small selection, but enough to get the day started. The host is a lovely man who made a real effort to accommodate us and give directions, even though I understand very little Italian and he didn't understand English very well.

Our stay was cancelled, and the way it was handled was awful. We had paid for the night, but our flight was late. I tried contacting the hotel through Booking.com and by phone, with no answer. Around midnight, as we were getting close to the hotel, the owner finally replied that he wouldn't wait for us and that we should find somewhere else. I had to look for another hotel late at night, then pay extra for a second night elsewhere, while losing the money we'd paid here. The next day we returned to ask for a refund. The receptionist didn't speak English, but we managed a little with a translator. She called the owner, who still didn't care about our situation. In my view, if they weren't going to wait for us, they should have returned our money. I found the owner unpleasant and unhelpful, and the whole experience felt like being robbed. I've never encountered such rudeness or unkindness, and I strongly don't recommend this place. They don't respond to messages and don't speak English. If they're listed on Booking.com, they should answer messages. If they can't manage that, they should remove the hotel from the site instead of wasting people's time.
