Grand Meteora Hotel

Our room faced the back of the main building, though that was fine since we were only there for one night. The property has lovely views from rooms around the outer edge. There’s a kettle, coffee and tea, plus a fridge and safe, and the bathroom is quite spacious. The room uses a key card for the lights and AC, and a random card won’t work, it has to be your room key. Ours kept powering the room on just long enough for the AC to start, which took a minute or two, then the power would cut and come back repeatedly. The front desk made us a new key, which fixed that. Around 6:30 in the morning, the phone rang and woke me up. I heard the tail end of what sounded like an automated message, then the call disconnected. The hotel has a grand feel, and we were there with a tour group. Other hotels on our trip charged a 10€ tax on arrival, while GM charged 16€. I don’t know if that’s a city fluctuation or where the difference comes from. There’s a pool, spa, gym, massage and other facilities. I didn’t expect spa or massage to be included, but thought the gym and pool might be. The gym cost 5€ for an hour. I don’t know the pool price, because after hearing about the gym I stopped listening. Of the handful of hotels we stayed at in Greece, this one felt like the biggest letdown.
