Elena Guesthouse

Our host was so welcoming and helpful. She gave us a map, showed us where the monasteries were, and helped call a taxi to take us there. The house is charming, with traditional rooms that are nicely decorated, clean, and spacious, plus a balcony. Restaurants and shops are nearby, and the train station is about a quiet, lovely 15-minute walk away. We wish we’d had more time here.

Elena was so kind and helpful when we had trouble reaching the company to get our KTEL tickets. The guesthouse is a little way from downtown Kalambaka, but it’s a lovely walk and well worth it. It’s also right beside the trail to the eastern monasteries. The place is as quiet and elegant as its pictures suggest, and our comfortable room had a lovely mountain view from the balcony.

The bed was comfortable and the ambience was great. On foot, it’s about a 10-minute trek to the city centre, so the location wasn’t the most convenient. We could also have used more surfaces in the bathroom, especially in the shower, with somewhere to put shampoo and shower gel. There weren’t any shower caddies.

We had a great stay and would come back or recommend it to friends. The room was clean and fit our family of four, just as the pictures showed, though without the fire. We thought it might feel cold, but the weather wasn’t actually cold for that season, and an efficient heater kept the room at just the right temperature. Our balcony didn’t look out at the mountain peaks, but it had a picturesque view of the next village. It was quiet, just as you’d expect in a peaceful mountain village. Breakfast was filling and tasty.
