Jamila Villa in Kalathas

We loved the villa's setting most of all, and enjoyed much of our 10-day stay. The modern house has a beautiful outlook over the sea and Chania, a very good infinity pool, and a lovely living room where it's easy to relax. The garden was well kept, and the kitchen had all the tools we needed. For anyone with high expectations, here are some things that weren't mentioned on the website. The villa is about 5 km from the airport, directly under the takeoff paths for both commercial and military flights. It gets noisy at times, including sometimes at night, and the military jets in particular are quite something. We didn't mind too much, but more noise-sensitive guests might. Two of the five bedrooms are in the basement and get little or no daylight. Some parts of the service fell short. Cleaning was supposed to happen every three days. The first time, the bed linen wasn't changed and the visit lasted around 45 minutes with only very light cleaning. The third cleaning was skipped completely without any notice, and the floors weren't cleaned at all during our 10 days. That wasn't the service we booked and paid for. We heard a lot of apologies, including that management makes the plans, but I think a straightforward refund was due. I also asked for the extra cleaning advertised on the website and was told it wasn't available because the cleaners had to work at other villas. The barbecue was very dirty when we arrived, as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. It still didn't work properly after being cleaned, and was only partly repaired three days later. The temperature indicator still didn't work. The Wi-Fi was out for two days. Waste handling could be better: there was no sorting in the villa and just a very small indoor bin for 10 people. A few smaller things were loose or poorly fixed, including several electrical and lighting plugs in the walls and the soap holder. The master bedroom's air conditioning was barely able to cool the room. We had to keep it near maximum, which was noisy, or the room stayed quite warm. There's a lot of criticism here, but this is a beautiful place in a great setting, and most of the time we really enjoyed our holiday. Cleaning and maintenance need improvement. Maybe we were just unlucky, but some things seemed to lack attention, and friendly apologies don't clean the apartment. We made several requests for a refund over these issues, and they were ignored and never answered.
