Azanias Chalet

Azanias felt like a peaceful retreat for our holiday. The owners were generous and added a personal touch that made the stay feel familiar and restful. The chalet has a distinctive style, warm atmosphere, and high-end fittings and facilities. We also loved the mountain and historic village views, along with the majestic scenery and blooming gardens. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely return.

The breakfast was a highlight. We could choose what to prepare in the well-equipped kitchen, with the fridge and pantry stocked with local treats, fresh ingredients, and homemade cake. There were also daily breakfast plates from the hotel, each a different, thoughtfully made surprise for anyone wanting something warm. Our suite had a private pool and a panoramic view that was especially beautiful at sunset. It was spotless, carefully decorated, furnished with quality pieces, and had one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in. The hotel is high up, with wonderful vistas, yet only a 4-5 minute drive from the town center, so we had peace and privacy without being far away. It’s very pet-friendly, too, which made it feel like a home away from home. We spent two unforgettable days here and can’t wait to return.

The owners were welcoming and always there when we needed help. We stayed in an attic-style room, which was very clean and especially well equipped in the kitchen. Fresh, warm breakfast was served daily in addition to what was already provided in the room. The rooms are well situated and have a great view across the whole town. Our stay was exceptional.

This might have been a five-star stay, but the situation with our dogs changed everything. We booked through 'booking.com' about a month ahead. Free cancellation was available until two weeks before arrival, after which the penalty was half the price. We chose the hotel because an Instagram review described it as pet-friendly, and friends who had stayed there with their two small dogs also loved it. When we contacted the hotel shortly before our trip to confirm check-in and mention our two dogs, we were told about a policy that wasn’t shown on 'booking.com'. The staff said that was the booking site's fault. The policy was an extra 20 per night for one pet, with two pets not permitted. We were willing to pay the extra charge, even with such late notice, but the hotel wouldn’t accommodate two dogs. I accept that we should have mentioned both dogs earlier so we could have dealt with it sooner. We didn’t think to do that because we believed the hotel was pet-friendly, our friends had stayed with two dogs, and 'booking.com' says pets are allowed without saying that only one is permitted. The hotel also wouldn’t cancel our reservation for free or at a lower cost, saying it wasn’t their fault that 'booking.com' didn’t let them list the pet policy. 'Booking.com' didn’t take responsibility for the misunderstanding either, and only said sorry. I don’t know how that helps us. After several attempts to find a solution, we lost 150euros and the hotel didn’t help, so this one-star review feels like the only thing we can do.
