I never stayed at Carpe diem, so I can't comment on the rooms. What I can describe is an unpleasant exchange with the owner. Less than a month earlier, on the eve of August 15th, I was looking for a room around Kalloni and Skala Kalloni and called several places for prices, including this one. The owner quoted me a price and asked for a 50 euro deposit by bank transfer. After speaking with other people, I found an option I preferred. I didn't send the deposit, and assumed there was no booking agreement since I hadn't paid anything. It was a free market, after all. Nearly a month later, I arrived in Kalloni and checked into the place I liked best, which I had booked with a deposit. On that day, the Carpe diem owner suddenly started calling to find out where I was and why I hadn't arrived. I told him I'd chosen somewhere else. He said he'd reserved the room for me, and wanted 50 euros for his supposed loss because he'd blocked it on the platforms. I asked why he hadn't checked his account during all that time, when there was no deposit from me and I hadn't confirmed the booking. He was extremely sarcastic, called me dishonest, and kept making fun of me, even giving me unsolicited grammar lessons. I still don't know why I paid him the exact amount, since I owed him nothing. Maybe I just didn't want this to spoil the good mood of my trip. I wasn't given a receipt. I'm sharing what happened so others who contact this accommodation will be wary.
