Nimfes Villas

Kallisto villa was just right for us, and I expect the same goes for the other two villas. They're all on the same rather steep lane just off the main road in Istron village. The pool was clean and very well looked after. Don't worry that it isn't heated, it was warm enough. The villa's air conditioning worked really well, and as someone from East Anglia, I definitely needed it. We spent the full two weeks there, with the occasional swim at the beach. We're not much for exploring. We tried several restaurants and liked them all. There are plenty of small shops, and the fruit was so good, especially the divine cherries. Be careful with ice cream, even the ordinary mass produced kind is gorgeous and melts fast. The villa felt comfortable inside, with friendly locals and cats around. A family of cats adopted us. We were told not to feed them, but I did anyway because the locals were so kind to them and it seemed rude not to. The Greeks seemed very fond of the stray cats and dogs, and they all looked healthy. The beach is along a charming road lined with houses, trucks, olive groves and cats. Greeks swim in the morning and later around twilight, and everyone goes in, especially the older ladies. A totally awesome pizzeria is to the left down the main road. We got takeout four times. The family running it are Italian, and we were glad we tipped each time after the lovely owner said tips are passed to the young staff. They were working in temperatures up to 38 degrees while we were there. One thing to remember: don't flush toilet paper. I've seen water pipes get blocked in London, so I sympathise. Waste bins are on the main road to the right, and if you want to do as the Greeks do, take the rubbish out after dark. Lovely accommodation, fantastic people and very friendly cats.
