Avra Apartments

The owners were so sweet and kept checking whether we needed anything or felt at home. We did. Parking right outside our door was really handy for loading our beach bags without carrying them far. I spent seven nights in Levantes and loved having coffee on the cozy balcony in the morning with that view. The bed was comfortable, and the room had plenty of space for our things, including makeup, towels, and clothes. There were three mirrors, too. Every detail seemed thought through. The room was fully equipped with a washing machine, hair dryer, shampoo, towels for the beach as well, coffee machine, toaster, kettle, good fridge, olive oil, pan, and more. As someone who cares a lot about hygiene, I especially appreciated that they didn’t put decorative blankets or pillows on top of the bed. The sheets and towels had no marks, and the whole room felt so clean. The view made it feel like we were close to nature, with the sea, but in a luxurious setting. Cute Cretan cats came by our balcony from time to time, which was a big plus for me. Kalyves itself wasn’t as beautiful as Chania or Rethymno, but it was quiet and nice, just a seaside village, so don’t expect too much from it. There were two beaches about 10 minutes away, but we preferred going to the turquoise water beaches in the west and south of Crete. Kalyves is between Rethymno and Chania, so visiting either town for dinner was easy. Everything about the stay felt perfect, from the room and view to the hospitality. This apartment has set my expectations so high that I’m not sure I’ll like other Airbnbs as much. Even five star all inclusive hotels don’t always offer this level of cleanliness, good equipment, and a relaxing stay. Amazing.

Natasa was such a thoughtful, helpful guide to the area. She even checked the weather for us, suggested itineraries, and sent us to one of our favorite restaurants on the whole trip. I wish we’d had much more time to get to know her. The room had nice hot water and a comfy bed, and the welcome touches included raki, fruit, tea, and coffee ❤️ We had an incredibly lovely stay, and the accommodation was impeccable. I’d highly recommend it!

Right in the middle of everything, directly in Chania harbor, this is a great base for nightlife, restaurants, and shopping. The apartments are spacious and elegant, with the luxurious essentials that make them feel like home. The location felt safe, and there’s a state of the art security system with cameras.

Wine and water were waiting when I arrived, and I’d definitely stay here again. The apartment was absolutely lovely, modern, very clean, and had everything I needed. I was also happy to find a fab diffuser hairdryer and a memory foam mattress.
