Kalithea Apartments

The hosts were superb and ready to help with anything we needed. The hotel was very clean and well cared for, with lovely pools. It's in a quiet spot close to the beach, a supermarket, and restaurants, and the price was very good.

I love coming back here, and many people have been returning for decades. It's a place to unwind in the sun, with the beach a short walk away and plenty of good restaurants and nice bars in Kalyves. There are lovely walks above town through the olive groves and by the river's lemon plantations. Nicos and Maria can sort out any problem. If you're after nightclubs, this may not be the place for you.

Nikos and Maria were lovely hosts, checking in with me every day and doing everything they could to make my stay comfortable. The accommodation felt like home and had all the cooking equipment I needed, including a cooker, hob, fridge, and utensils. The views were breathtaking, and the garden and pool were so well kept that I didn't feel like going out to explore, even though the location is also a great base for seeing the area. I'd recommend this beautiful place to anyone visiting Crete. I would give it 10 stars if Google allowed it.

The location made getting around easy: the beach was about a three-minute walk, while the supermarket and bus stop were under two minutes away. Buses from there go to Chania for €2.50, and the centre of Kalives is around 15 minutes on foot. There are plenty of tavernas both in town and closer to the apartments. Kalives was a lovely, quiet place, and we'd happily stay at Kalithea apartments again. My girlfriend and I spent nine nights there in June 2017 and had a great time. The apartment had everything we could ask for, including an electric oven and grill, fridge with freezer drawer, coffee machine, TV, free WiFi, a safe, and free air conditioning in both the bedroom and the living area. After days spent visiting places around Crete, it was comfortable and quiet to come back to. Nikos welcomed us and showed us around. Maria had made a fresh Greek salad and marble cake, and the fridge had water, wine, mythos, butter, and honey. There was bread, fruit, and coffee pods too, along with other things I've probably forgotten. We also found a useful book of places to visit, and the website had ideas as well. Nikos and Maria were so welcoming and helpful with arrangements. They're the best hosts I've met on holiday. Thank you!
