Hotel Kalyves Beach

We had a wonderful time at Kalives Beach Hotel. The staff were welcoming, kind, and always ready to help. There was lots of tasty food to choose from, all fresh and well prepared. Our room was cleaned every day, which made things more comfortable. The hotel is in a great spot for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. It's also a good choice for families, with plenty of activities to keep kids busy through the day. We'd definitely recommend it.

The food and coffee were great, and we really enjoyed the Thursday wine tasting. We came with my parents and our two boys, and the waiters and cleaning staff were especially lovely with them. The hotel arranged an eight-seater taxi from the airport, and we used the same company for a day trip; they also provided two car seats. The beach playground kept the boys busy on sunny days. When one day turned wet and windy, they added crafts for my son. Iva was wonderful with the children at the kids club and disco, and her little girl kindly spent the day playing with my two-and-a-half-year-old and encouraging him. Iva also teaches a great morning yoga class.

The beach is right there, and we had a lovely stay. It’s a relaxed place with several pools, friendly staff, and nice service. There was a good choice of food, and the cocktails were nice too. The regular all-inclusive includes a range of non-branded cocktails, even without paying for all-inclusive plus. 😊

Kalyves itself is mostly a few shops and cafes, though the hotel has what you need and I’d suggest going all inclusive. The food has plenty of variety for most tastes. The hotel is clean and pleasant, with evening entertainment for children and adults. Our room was fine and good value, though we sometimes heard showers or a noisy fridge. It wasn’t too unreasonable. We chose a week of consistently poor weather, so the location would make a nicer base in a sunny week, with Rethymno and Chanai close enough to visit. On arrival, we could have used more information, and there was confusion about which package we had. The staff were friendly and tried to help. When communication fell short, Mo, the guest relations manager, made sure our needs were met and that we were happy. His humour and candour were very welcome.
