Waking up to that uninterrupted view was magical, and the photos don't quite show how beautiful the setting is. The house was spotless and equipped better than any place I've rented. It really felt like home. I can't recommend or praise this property enough. A true gem!

Villa Amalia has several comfortable places outdoors to take in the bay. Each floor has a large terrace with a table and chairs, while the garden with its BBQ and the pool also face the water. From there, you can see the Bay of Souda, two small islands and the naval base in front of the villa. There's an old fortress on one of the islands. Naval vessels pass in and out, alongside fishing and tour boats heading to and from Chania, as well as ferries and cargo ships. We spotted a submarine in the bay a few times. The ferries leaving Souda at night, lit up, make a festive scene. The mountains and the wooded village of Megala Chorafia are visible to the west. You can also see planes landing and taking off at Chania airport in the background, though it's so far away that the noise is negligible. The evening sky is often striking, with yellow, orange or pink colors that make it look like a painting.

Villa Amalia sits in a beautiful setting and is a lovely villa. Restaurants and shops are close by, and Chania is easy to reach. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
