Meltemi

Meltemi is only a few steps from the beach, with shops and tavernas all around, and it has a laid-back feel that makes it easy to unwind. The rooms are bright, clean, and charming, and the hosts made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We loved making our own breakfast and eating it on the terrace with that beautiful sea view. A little paradise on Sifnos, and a great way to experience the island's authentic vibe.

We found a spotless room with a lovely bathroom and coffee machine, plus a huge terrace or balcony and a wonderful view over the bay. Restaurants are only a five-minute walk away. We hadn't been able to find a room in Kamares, so we asked a shop owner if they knew of any. They offered us a room, and we're glad we followed them. If you're looking for a nice place to stay, look no further. ❤️

A very good, inexpensive option in Kamares. It's a small family hotel about 10 minutes' walk from the port pier and five from Kamares beach. The rooms are clean and equipped with a fridge, kettle, and the basics for breakfast if you'd rather stay in than visit one of the many beachside bars, cafes, and restaurants. The owners are a lovely older couple who don't speak any English, but it wasn't a problem at all. Ask for what you need and, after a few minutes of funny conversation in whatever language you speak, they'll sort it out. Recommended.

The room was tiny, as was the bathroom. There wasn't a proper shower, and water covered the whole bathroom, making the floor dangerously slippery. There's no reception or anyone available for questions or requests. Other guests were left unchecked when they got noisy, though to be fair, there was no soundproofing. I was woken at 12:50 and 3 am on two nights in a row. Don't bring food into the room either, or ants will swarm. We booked for two but accidentally left the guest count as one. The owner's son charged us extra, saying we should have specified that the room for two, which could have either one full bed or two single beds, was for two people. Yet there were already towels for two in the room when we arrived. It's ridiculous, and the price for a two-person room seems to fluctuate based on what the owner's son wants. Edit in reply to the owner's comment: I checked the booking site again, and there wasn't a price difference for two guests or an extra charge for the second person, despite what we were told afterward. It's listed as a room for two. The site also lists the establishment as pet friendly, but doesn't say you have to mention an animal in advance or get approval, even for a tiny mini-breed dog of barely 9 kg. As for the towel, it's funny that you run a hotel but have apparently never had a guest with dyed hair. I guess I should have brought my own towel too. Customer service might not be your strong point, but you've got rudeness down to a T. What a joke.
