Radisson Resort Plaza Skiathos

The breakfast was pretty poor, with little food and not much variety. It would be fine for a stay of 2-3 days, but over a week it would be disappointing. The hotel is a five-minute walk from Kanapitsa beach. The room was very comfortable. By Greek accommodation standards this is a very good hotel, though compared with Radisson generally, it’s barely average.

We liked several things here. The pool area was lovely and always had room to relax, the bar staff were really friendly, and there’s a nearby beach with beautiful water and a great local taverna. The water taxi into town is close, and the air conditioning was very strong, which we appreciated in the heat. The main problem was the lack of connection in block B. The Wi-Fi was VERY poor, making it hard to look up activities or contact family, which was especially frustrating on my birthday. Streaming music or watching TV at night wasn’t possible. There was no mobile signal in the room either, so our own data wasn’t a backup. Five days into the stay we asked to move, since this was affecting us, and were told someone would get back to us. No one did. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Bar and room-service cups were left in the room, the toilet roll wasn’t replaced, and the shower overflowed easily, leaving the floor and mat wet for much of the day. The heavy corridor doors banged loudly and woke us repeatedly at night and early in the morning. We asked for just one extra hour at checkout, since we were leaving at 12pm, but were refused even though our room hadn’t been ready when we arrived after 3pm. We waited in the shared seating area and could see cleaners hadn’t reached our room by 12 anyway. It would have been an easy win, especially after we’d already complained at the front desk about Wi-Fi and toiletries. The front desk service was nowhere near as good as the bar and pool staff. The nearest bus stop is a steep 10-minute uphill walk, and taxis to town cost €20-25 each way, which adds up quickly. That’s just something to know, rather than a hotel flaw, since the nearby beach really is lovely. Drinks at the bar were expensive, €7 for a small beer and €14.50 for a cocktail. The hotel isn’t nice enough to justify those prices on top of the room cost. It’s a stylish place with some lovely features, but too many practical problems for a higher rating. I wouldn’t stay again.

The employees at breakfast and around the pool were great and very helpful. But the hotel felt really disorganized and quite different from our other Radisson stays. A pity. They said we’d been upgraded to a better room, but it didn’t feel that way. The Wi-Fi was a disaster: pages took about two minutes to respond to each click, so forget doing any online work. There’s no reachable mobile network where the hotel is, either. When we went to close our account at checkout, we waited at least 15 minutes because reception uses the same Wi-Fi and nothing was working.

The food was fresh and tasty, and the staff were friendly, but the stay was a complete disappointment. For a four-star hotel, the cleanliness of both the rooms and the property was questionable. We often had no water or very low pressure, so showering was impossible, and a poorly cleaned drain caused repeated flooding. The room was unbearably damp; we had to sleep with the window open, which let in swarms of mosquitoes. The air conditioner above the bed also smelled unpleasant, and its filters clearly hadn’t been cleaned. A power cut left us unable to access the room for more than eight hours, and reception didn’t know how repairs were progressing. Even with dinner booked in advance, we often waited for a table, and drinks were exorbitantly priced. The location is remote and very poor. I wouldn’t recommend it.
