Villa Christina

It was a brilliant holiday, with lovely, welcoming people and beaches close to the hotel. One beach is reached through the hotel grounds and then along a woodland path, so sturdy shoes are a good idea, not flip-flops or sliders. The hotel is up a hill, so the location won’t suit everyone, but we were fine with it. We enjoyed the 15-minute walk down to the bus stop in the lovely woodland air, and seeing the stars on the way back. Buses come very frequently and cost only 2 euros into Skiathos Town or to any other stop.

The pool was a highlight, a lovely place to cool off after walking from the main road. There were enough sunbeds around it and a nice poolside bar. We loved hearing the crickets and other sounds of Greece without traffic noise, since the family-run complex sits back from the road. Buses to Skiathos town run frequently, and there was enough parking. We hired a car, which made the walk back with shopping no problem. We had a self-catering apartment by the pool, with a small front terrace. It was basic, but the kitchen had a fridge, a separate double electric hob you plug in, and enough pots and pans for simple breakfasts or lunches. The bathroom was basic too, which we didn’t mind. A handyman fixed the shower and a couple of small things; he was friendly and did a good job. One of the family owners welcomed us, showed us around the room and explained how things worked, including a couple of house rules, such as not bringing your own alcohol to the pool. The staff were extremely friendly, from the bar team to the cleaners who came most days. Miltos, the main man, and young Deo were always happy to serve us at the bar. Sona, our lovely, smiling cleaner, made the holiday too, as did Eleanor, Maria and Christina. We stayed in July last year 2025 and had an amazing time. It’s a very well-priced, traditionally Greek, family-run place, and I’d definitely come back.

The only downside was the uphill walk from the bus stop, though a 15 euro ride from Skiathos town is an easy option. Otherwise, we had a fabulous 10 days at Villa Christina and weren’t disappointed in anything. Helena helped arrange a quad bike so we could explore the island, which was probably the best Greek isle we’ve visited. Helena, Miltos and Dio were incredibly helpful, and the food at the snack bar was wonderful. I had many conversations with Dio about solving the world’s problems. We also met some great people and spent plenty of late nights talking and laughing. Many thanks, and we’ll come back.

There’s parking around the back, rooms are cleaned daily, and there’s a shop and gyros place down the road. Lots of places to explore nearby, too. The pool is a decent size with plenty of sunbeds if you want to hang out there, and there are cute little cats around. Everyone was so polite and kind. Shout out to the bar guy for making fresh, amazing drinks, especially the mojito. 10/10, love this place.
