We booked this small self-catering place in January 2017, paid a substantial deposit, and were meant to stay 11 nights at the end of August/beginning of September. It would've been our first time at this accommodation, though not in Karavomylos. We had agreed an arrival time with the owner, but no one was there to meet us. Eventually the owner's father turned up. Our high-floor room with a full sea view was occupied, so he put us in a ground-floor room facing a wall for the first night. He said we could move the next day to another ground-floor room. That room was occupied too, but he showed it to us and claimed it had a sea view. In fact, a huge olive tree almost completely blocked the view, and it also blocked the sea view from the room next door, which he showed us even though that room was occupied as well. When we showed him the emails confirming an upper floor and full sea view, he got quite nasty and kept saying those rooms were full. I've never encountered this kind of behavior and duplicity in Kefalonia in nearly over 30 holidays. Clearly shocked and upset, we watched him take cash from his wallet and throw it at us after trying to cheat us out of 50% of our deposit. We were frustrated and devastated, and had no choice but to leave and find another place for our 11 nights. By then it was 6.30pm. The reception area was also very untidy and not very clean. Please think twice before booking. You may be as disappointed as we were.

A lovely stay, clean and friendly, and family run. Great base for exploring kefalonia. There was a slight language barrier, but Google Translate helped us sort out a few questions. Thank you.

We booked a month ahead, then a few days later asked to shift the dates slightly. We sent the request through booking.com and messaged the host, who said it was fine. But a few days before check-in, the booking.com request still hadn't been accepted, even though all our part payments had gone through by then. We found the host impossible to communicate with and it seemed he didn't understand what we were asking. It was extremely frustrating. In the end we had to cancel and lost half our money. I don't recommend staying here.

Mr Sotiris and his wife Axia made us feel at home straight away. Each morning we'd sit down for coffee and a chat. There was a language barrier, but we still managed to understand each other. Mr Sotiris brought us fresh fruit, eggs and even wine from his home, and was always happy to share information about the local area and island. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Our ground-floor room was very comfortable and clean, as were the building and grounds, and it had a lovely view of Ithika. This is a wonderful family-run place where you're made to feel welcome. I'd thoroughly recommend Dimitris Studios and wouldn't hesitate to book again when we return to Kefalonia.
