We only lasted two nights, thank goodness. I’m in my late 60s and use a walking stick. The owner looked at our cases and started shouting and waving his arms because we were on the second floor and he couldn’t carry them. We never expected him to carry them. He’s far too old to be managing this place and was extremely rude. The rooms are very dated, with no kettle and only two sockets. The bathroom looked like it was from the 1950s. We were given blue towels covered in huge bleach stains, and the bed sheets were threadbare and falling apart. The place cost us €65 per night, which was a terrible experience for the money. The owner should retire if he can’t cope without taking his anger out on guests. Reception was locked up, and the chairs were faded and ancient. Avoid this dreadful hotel and its owner.

The hotel is close to the center, and the room had comfortable beds, good air conditioning, a TV and a decent shower. It was cleaned very well. The hotelier was helpful and accommodating, and gave me suggestions for places to visit on the island. I had an excellent stay.

This place feels stuck in 1970, and the staff member was old and very rude. I’ve lived on the island for more than ten years, and locals I know warned me that the person working there was weird and rude when I mentioned my booking. They were right. I’d urge people to go elsewhere in Kardamena, where there are much better options. They couldn’t find my booking and said they only cooperate with three booking agencies. If a hotel is listed on a website, how is it the customer’s fault if that website isn’t one of those agencies? The person also insisted I had to pay cash. In Greece, that’s illegal, and I believe he was trying to avoid giving a receipt and paying taxes by taking money under the table. He threatened to call the police when I refused. I felt he was trying to scam me. There are so many bad reviews. One unhappy guest might be dismissed, but when there are that many, it says something. The hotel can reply that these things didn’t happen, but I have no reason to lie. Please don’t go there.

After a long day of travel, all we wanted was a peaceful family break. Instead, the owner made the stay exhausting from the moment we arrived. He yelled at us for checking in late, even though it was 13:00 and the website said check-in was at 14:00. I calmly asked him not to shout and explained that we were guests who had been up since 3:30am for a flight. He said he was upset because an English tourist had broken into an apartment and he had to fix the lock, then asked whether we wanted a double or separate beds. I said we were sisters and didn’t mind, as long as we could check in quickly because I was exhausted. He rudely assumed we were an LGBTQ couple and asked for my sister’s ID to prove we were family, even though she was only a guest. He looked at us with disgust and disbelief until he saw the ID and said, “ohh, you’re sisters then.” Then he demanded €8 a day for air conditioning. I refused because the charge wasn’t on our receipt, and he yelled that he didn’t want me there, told me to get out of his hotel and threatened to call the police unless we paid extra. I was angry and worn out, but kept trying to stay polite and calm. We went to lie down around 2pm, and he came banging on our door with his daughter, who handles bookings, to explain the air conditioning fee. It was 35 degrees and we just wanted to rest. The next morning, he mocked me in the lobby for not saying hello. I told him he should be more discreet. After that, he punished us by not providing room service for four days, so we had to clean the room and buy our own toilet paper. We were stuck there for three nights because the booking couldn’t be cancelled. It was the worst experience I’ve had, and I wouldn’t recommend the place at all. Avoid it and save yourself the stress.

The hotel is right in the center, and it was kept clean. The woman at reception was incredibly helpful and kind. Whenever we needed something, she made sure we got it, and she also gave us useful advice on public transport, food and sightseeing. Thanks for a great time.
