Evripides Village

The location was run down and bore little resemblance to the photos. Broken fridges, old stoves, a battered billiard table, bath tubs and pallets were scattered around the grounds and along the path. The shop was never open, there was no entertainment despite it being listed, and we were told it wasn't the season even though we arrived on June 16. The owners seemed to have given up, saying they were too old for it, while other hotels on the island were busy and much better. At one point there were only five guests, including my wife and me. An 89-year-old woman was digging in the garden outside our room without anyone helping her. She was the owner's mother, while he sat smoking and drinking coffee. We were also promised massage facilities, but there were none. When we asked to see the gym, staff put us off and couldn't find the key. There were no daytime snacks as advertised either, because the owner had told staff not to put them out when occupancy was low. We had to go downstairs and hire a hairdryer that was supposed to be in the room. The room itself was awful, with wires hanging off the wall, taps coming loose, and no guard rail on the low balcony, which felt dangerous. Drinks were warm and choices were limited. There was no WiFi in the rooms. The food selection was poor, and we found mould on several items. Tinned fruit had furry mould all over the top, and the bread was mouldy all the way through when I went to toast it. There wasn't a different food option, so we felt we couldn't eat there and had to eat out every day after paying for all inclusive. The food was the same every day. Reviews on the love holiday site about this place were right. This is absolutely awful, not a 4 star hotel, and the advertising is false. The owners are just grabbing money and failing to provide what they claim the hotel offers. Please don't waste your money like we did.

The hotel is in an ideal spot on the island, with a great pool and plenty of food to choose from. Rooms were cleaned and towels changed each day. Staff were very friendly, and the owners couldn't do enough for us. There was live entertainment a few times a week. Great value for money.

The relaxed, family run feel really suited us, and Evripides was always around and went out of his way to help. Lawrie at the bar was lovely, and all the staff were warm and welcoming. We'd definitely come back after such a fantastic first visit to Kos. The nearby town has lots of restaurants, shops and bars. We stayed for ten days and had three rooms, all a good standard. They were cleaned daily, with fresh towels every day and bedding changed regularly. The pool area and pool were cleaned every night, and the sunbeds were comfortable. Food was fresh and varied, with enough choice for us to find things we liked. I only saw chicken nuggets once, so I don't know why someone said they were served every night. If you need a hairdryer or kettle, ask at reception and return it when you leave. The owner sings traditional Greek music with a mandolin and dancing a couple of times each week. This isn't a five star hotel, so pay double or triple if that's what you're after. I read some of the bad reviews before coming. Their motives seem questionable, and some claims are blatant lies.

The pool was great, the food delicious, and the place was comfortable with air conditioning that worked well. We had such a good time with the owner, Nicko. Best hotel in Kos for us, and I'm already looking forward to going back next year.
