Golden Sand Hotel

We had a relaxing two-night stay with our older kids. The facilities are old but clean, and the sea is gorgeous, with some watersports nearby. Everyone on staff was kind and helpful. We also liked the food and drinks at the bar. Thank you!

The location is perfect, and the beach is sandy. Being able to order from the hotel pub is a plus, though drinks are average and around €10. But when there’s a birthday party at the pool, it turns into a nightmare. It gets packed with children and so noisy that you have to leave the pool area.

We were happy with the beds and room cleaning, and there was always an empty spot in the parking lot. The location was good and breakfast was pretty much okay. The hotel is old, so don’t expect a Hilton. The pool bar was very slow, though. We waited 30 minutes for two waffles and drinks. There’s a lifeguard, but he spends the day on his phone and chatting up girls, so don’t rely on him. Food and drinks cost more than at other beaches. We didn’t spend much time at the hotel during the day. I’d suggest staying somewhere cheaper and enjoying the other beautiful beaches in Ireland.

The room was plain, but it had a nice sea view. There’s a pool, though we didn’t try it because it looked crowded. The location works well if you want to be right by the beach. We drove to Chios old town, so if that’s where you’ll spend most of your time, I’d book somewhere else.
