Naxian Resort Villa Orkos

The setting worked really well for getting away from crowds, with lovely undeveloped beaches and tavernas and supermarkets nearby. The villas themselves are very nice. But there was almost no service at the villa. I tried reaching the hostess several times and heard nothing until days after we had left. We couldn't get extra linens or towels, toilet paper, or garbage pickup, and basic cleanliness and supplies were lacking. There weren't any hangers in the closets either. Very bare bones.

A car is nearly essential here, since the place is secluded and the nearest shop is a few kilometres away. The houses are well equipped for cooking and have plenty of storage, plus a BBQ area and very clean pools. The lovely pebble beach is just 200 metres away. One thing to watch is the steep stairs, which could be dangerous for small children or adults who've been drinking. The houses aren't cleaned during the stay, though that may be something you can arrange.

The villas and location are lovely, but we had trouble with the booking and the service. We had chosen a particular villa online, yet were taken to a different one with one fewer bed, so two of us had to share. We made it work, but the company still hasn't responded about the mix-up. Check-in was confusing too: there was no reception or advance information, and we spent a while looking for someone and trying to find our villa before locating the person who was meant to meet us. The Wi-Fi didn't reach upstairs. Hot water seemed to come from solar heating, so it was hot at night but not in the morning. If there was an electric backup, it either didn't work or no one told us how to use it.

The staff were well qualified, and the whole place felt quiet and peaceful, just right for a vacation. Our villa was fully equipped and had a breathtaking sea view, with the beach easy to get to right in front of the resort. We had an absolutely amazing stay!
