I couldn’t stop looking at the sea from our apartment. The water was a gorgeous turquoise, and the long sandy beach nearby was almost empty, which was perfect for us. The rooms were bright, spacious, and beautifully decorated, in a quiet area right by the beach. Fotis and Pavlos made us feel very welcome and were helpful throughout our stay. This is one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed.

We ate dinner at the property every evening, and each meal was delicious, with local ingredients and creative combinations. You can have breakfast there too. Thalassa Naxos is thoughtfully designed, and Pavlos and Fotis deserve a special thank you for making our five days so lovely. The spot is away from the island’s bustle, but Kastraki beach is close with soft sand and clear blue water. Two restaurants are an easy walk away, along with a small minimarket that has what you need. There’s also a nearby beach bar serving drinks and food, with sunbeds. They were very helpful with arranging our car rental. We’d love to return.

The location was ideal, only a short walk from what I thought was Naxos’s best beach. The apartment was nicely decorated and had all the conveniences, but the bathroom was quite cramped: you had to step into the shower to open or close its door. The old windows had no flyscreens, so bugs could get in, and there was no TV. We were told towels changed every three days, or sooner if we put the used ones in a basket. They changed them on most days, but once one set was short. The staff fixed that quickly. We tried breakfast once, which had to be ordered the day before, and it was alright. For the room and breakfast prices, we’d expected a bit more. Still, we had a relaxing stay.

We had a good stay, though we’re unsure the room prices are justified. Some places in Agia Anna, Agios Prokopios, and Plaka looked like better value, although we didn’t stay in them. The sea view was beautiful, the rooms were clean, and the staff polite and friendly. The simple decor and architecture didn’t stand out, the fridge was small, and there was no TV, which may not bother everyone. Sound carries, and the toilet area is cramped, with just a small shower and toilet and nowhere to put toiletries. There’s no basic kitchenware like cutlery or utensils. The beach is only 15 metres away, but there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance, so you’ll need a car. Amenities overall are minimal. None of this was a dealbreaker, though addressing some of it would improve the stay.

The owners have created a place with a wonderful atmosphere where it’s easy to switch off and just be present. Dinner there feels heavenly.
