Corfu Secret

The pool was one of our favorite parts of the stay. It was nearly empty most of the time, so it felt like we had it to ourselves, and it was a relaxing way to wind down after sightseeing. Our top-floor room also had breathtaking views over the landscape and sea. From breakfast onward, the host’s warmth and generosity made us feel at home. He sat with us and gave personal suggestions for activities and scenic spots, and his good deal with a car rental company made getting around the island easy. The hotel has a charming boutique style, with older furnishings that gave it character and made it feel cozy, almost like a time capsule. The air conditioning could be better. It’s within walking distance of town, though the steep walk up and the many steps around the property may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. For us, the hillside setting was serene and worth it. We had an amazing stay at Hotel Secret Corfu, with memories we won’t forget, and highly recommend it for a getaway on Corfu.

It was lovely and quiet when we stayed at Hotel Corfu Secret, up the hill toward Agios Markos. There’s a mini mart nearby, and Ipsos beach is about a 10-minute walk down the hill. The rooms are clean and the price is excellent. The pool is a great temperature, and you can get a drink at the bar. There are stairs to the pool and lower rooms, so getting around could be tough if you’re not steady on your feet. The staff were fantastic: when we couldn’t get a taxi to the old town, they sorted one out in five minutes.

The manager is a very kind and resourceful man who’ll help with any request, and the crew are amazing. For the price, the location is good enough: Ipsos beach is within walking distance, though there’s a steep descent on the way there and an uphill walk back. The beach area has lots of restaurants, clubs, and pubs, and is good for a younger crowd. Breakfast was nice, but could use more variety and improvement. We would have liked more vegetables and fruit. Apart from breakfast, we would have given it five stars.

It felt a bit like staying with friends. The staff and manager were welcoming, friendly, and really helpful, and spoke English very well. The hotel was very clean and peaceful enough to relax, with lovely views and a simple breakfast that was enough for us. The local bus stop is a five-minute walk; the main strip, restaurants, bars, and beach are about 15 minutes downhill. They can also arrange trips if you want an easy holiday. There are adult and kids’ pools at the bottom of a few flights of stairs. They arranged an airport taxi for us, which was a godsend late at night when three flights arrived at once and only a handful of taxis were available. Charming place. We’d stay again.
