The Old Salt

The host was so welcoming, even though we let them know late that we would be arriving late, they greeted us with a smile. Their helpful information made things easier, too. The place is very clean, comfortable, and has everything you need. The location is perhaps average, but this is still somewhere you really should experience.

Maria was already there to welcome us before we even got inside, and she was warm, friendly, and quick to help throughout our stay. Whenever I called with a question, she got back to me without delay. The house was spotless and thoughtfully stocked, from kitchen supplies and towels to shampoo, mosquito spray, and bandages. We also appreciated the coffee, biscuits, and wine she left for us. We stayed with our two older sons, who were happy to each have their own room. There were two double bedrooms with wardrobes, plus a single bed and a large chest of drawers. In the living room, we had an L-shaped sofa that I think may turn into a bed, along with a three-seater. Our favorite spot was the little balcony overlooking the street and terrace. The homey feel suited us much better than a small hotel room. The neighborhood was calm, away from the city bustle. Mama Pizza is right next door, which was handy after the long trip, and there's a grocery shop on the street above and a bakery below with lots to choose from. A staircase shortcut took about seven minutes to reach Yalós fish restaurant by the beach. The city center was five minutes away by car or a 15-minute walk.

We had an easy time exploring Kavala from here, with plenty of information to help us plan. Bus 1 stops just 150 meters away and goes to the center, and parking in front of the accommodation was easy to find. The place itself was spacious, very clean, and had a lovely terrace with lots of seating. It was equipped with everything we needed, and our expectations were surpassed. The hostess was exceptionally kind and accommodating. We'd happily come back.

The owners are lovely, and the apartment has everything you need. It's a very nice place, just five minutes from the beach. I recommend staying here.
