La Playa Grande

Our last morning at La Playa Grande Kavos, there was no water running anywhere in the hotel. We had three rooms, and ended up using the last of our bottled water to brush our teeth and manage the morning essentials. It was the final chapter in a stay where the water kept causing trouble. The shower water swung between hot and cold unpredictably. At one point it was scalding hot, so I couldn’t shower and had to stay in the state I was in after traveling all day. When I first reported the issue, the hotel manager wasn’t there and was supposedly an hour away. Reception was often left unattended, and I wasn’t even checked in by the manager, it was a waiter who did that. Staff told me a plumber would fix it the next day or they’d move me if the problem continued. After 24 hours, no plumber had appeared as far as I knew, and the manager still wasn’t there. Eventually we got moved to another room where the water at least wasn’t burning hot. The rest of the stay was uneventful, but the problems raised with staff weren’t addressed and seemed to get worse. The hotel claims to offer high-quality, luxury accommodation and a unique experience, but I found no luxury here. I’d read other reviews and thought I could handle the issues, but this was on another level. It’s disappointing because I love visiting Greece, and my time outside the hotel was great. I’d urge people not to book here. Do better, La Playa Grande.

The breakfast was good and the pool was nice. The beach wasn’t very nice, though that’s not something I can blame the hotel for. Parking was another problem: reception told us to leave the car on the street, and we got a fine on the second day. Everywhere we could pay it was closed, so the rental company charged us extra. Online, the hotel looks very good, but in person it was only so-so. Our bathroom was quite small, which might be manageable for a short stay, but it had no shower holder, turning the daily shower into an adventure. It was okay overall, but I’d hesitate before recommending it.

We’ve only been here a day and already feel great. The staff are amazing, especially Nikos, Spiros and Maria, who made us feel so welcome. La Playa Grande is the place to stay, eat, and drink when you’re in Kavos ❤️‍🔥

We had a really nice stay. The hotel is quiet even though it’s right on Kavos Main Street, with a mini market, restaurants, clubs, and bars just outside. Our room was clean, functional, and good. It was also the only place still running water while other places weren’t. The pool is lovely and there were always beds available. The two barmans were cool and brought a great vibe. The restaurant serves good food, and the waiter is always smiling. The staff were helpful and friendly, and we really appreciated them booking a taxi for us, since that’s not easy there.
