Parakladi Seaside Retreat

The quiet setting made it easy to unwind and clear my head, away from street noise. I stayed with a friend and really enjoyed this welcoming, secluded place. The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the kitchen and bathroom were in excellent condition. The pool was also lovely and well kept. I'd recommend it, especially for families.

We arrived on the 14th of June to a barely habitable building. The pool looked as if nobody had used it in years, and the common area was basically destroyed. Nobody greeted us. We met two women who apparently lived there, but they couldn't say whether it was a hotel. The place looked abandoned, and the people staying there looked like squatters. Before that, we'd made a non-refundable booking through Booking without checking reviews on other sites. We quickly regretted it and tried to cancel, but couldn't reach the property. After many calls with Booking.com, we were told to go and see for ourselves, and no refund was given. Booking.com then told us to find somewhere else ourselves and pay again, saying they might cover the next stay, though there's no knowing if that will happen. The “hotel” is part of a larger group called The Olive Grove Group https://olivegrovegroup.com/ and the hotels there are most likely managed by the same people. Don't pay them anything, they are thieves and cheaters. I hope no one else makes our mistake or has to go through the emotional and financial disaster we faced.

We left straight away. The pool was black and unusable, the beach was neglected, and the property was falling apart. This place is a scam. Booking.com gave us no refund. The glowing reviews seem clearly fake, written by people reviewing several hotels in the same chain. Don't fall for it. Avoid at all costs.

The pool had been cleaned, and breakfast was a decent size, though with no buffet and repetitive after the third day. Still, we left after three nights, disappointed and having lost a substantial amount of money. We had booked 5 nights in June and paid for the whole stay upfront, which we shouldn't have done. The place didn't meet the standards I'd expect for this kind of hotel, and the website pictures didn't match reality. The rooms looked worn out and weren't cozy. There was no cleaning after we arrived, as with similarly priced accommodation. Our bathroom door wouldn't close fully, and without a bin, rubbish piled up during our 3-day stay. The kitchen was too small to cook in. For this level of service, the price should have been a third of what they charged.
