Siropoulos

Locals pointed us toward this tavern, so we went for dinner with friends. The food was generous and really good: the lamb souvlaki had loads of meat, the chicken fillet was huge, and the beef patty with cheese was tasty and big too. We also had tzatziki, Greek salad and wine. The prices seemed normal. The balcony has a lovely view, and the place is full of carved wooden decorations. A lovely grandma and grandpa seem to run everything. We forgot to take photos, but do visit.

The locals go here, which says a lot. It’s a family-run place with lovely people, good quality food and very good prices. I stayed for 8 days in 2014 with the woman who wasn’t my wife yet, and even eight years later I still think about how good the food was and how lovely the place felt. I hope Lady Dimitra is still in charge and making those great meals. If you want Michelin stars or fancy restaurants, this probably isn’t for you. But for authentic Greek food and atmosphere, without fake shows, I’d recommend it with all my heart.

The view is splendid, and the hospitality is kind, with a familiar, family atmosphere. It’s a traditional Greek tavern run by a local family, where you can eat alongside the locals. Grandma cooks and serves, Grandpa brings the drinks, and the children help out and clean. The hostess suggested the mixed grill platter, and it was just right for trying a bit of everything. All of it tasted excellent.

The lamb chops, Greek salad and white wine were good. But this year it feels too expensive for what’s generally on offer.
