Filippion Hotel

Being in the last room on the first floor, we had no light and couldn’t get Wi-Fi or phone service, so I had to go outside to make a call. The room was also unclean, with bugs, mosquitoes, mold, and a bathroom door that wouldn’t close. We’d asked for a non-smoking room, but it smelled strongly of cigarettes, including the bed and clean towels, which was really unpleasant for us as non-smokers. There was nowhere to hang wet beach clothes or towels, and the room had just two small towels. I had to ask a receptionist who didn’t speak English for more. On the good side, the hotel is close to the beach and port, the breakfast had lots of choices, the staff were friendly, and there was plenty of parking for our car.

The location is really good, and the staff are nice people, friendly and ready to help. But the rooms weren’t very clean and each seemed to have some kind of defect. I skipped breakfast both mornings because there was hardly any variety or choice for people who don’t eat bread or meat. Even the bread and meat available were poor quality, with little to choose from. Don’t count on a pleasant view from the balcony either.

That beach is the best part: a short walk through a small wooded area takes you to a long stretch of sand. I went there for sunrise, and it was amazing! The hotel worked out perfectly for an early ferry the next morning, right across from the port. I was so glad I’d picked it at the last minute. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and parking was free. There’s also a little mini mart a short walk along the pretty, green pier, open late.

There’s breakfast and parking, though the parking spaces aren’t enough for everyone. The hotel is nice, but some rooms need renovating, especially room 1 and its bathroom. 😉
