Villa Panthea

We have spent our autumn holidays in Keratokampos for years and tried many places to stay, so this villa was a real disappointment, especially at over €245 a night. Its best features were the fantastic location, complete quiet, magnificent view, lovely pool and great terrace. We tried to enjoy those parts of the stay and not let the rest spoil our vacation, but this review needs to be honest: the villa needs a lot of improvement. There are other villas and holiday homes in the area with better amenities and upkeep for this price. The house felt old and worn, and it didn't match the description. On arrival, it wasn't clean: the counters were sticky, kitchen appliances smeared, cutlery dirty, and many surfaces had fingerprints. I'm not fussy, but cleanliness should be basic at this price. There was only a broom and no vacuum cleaner. The kitchen was badly worn, the windows were dirty, and the bathroom had a broken door, a loose toilet seat and damaged cabinets with water leaks. Without a shower screen, the whole bathroom got wet after every shower. The mattresses were especially awful, old, worn and unhygienic. Friends who own a house in Keratokampos gave us a mattress topper, otherwise sleeping would have been nearly impossible. They were shocked by the villa's condition too. This is about basic standards, not being overly critical. The cushions on all the chairs and loungers were filthy, the garden furniture didn't match the listing photos, and one chair broke the first time we sat on it. Inside, the dining table was so wobbly it was almost falling apart while we ate. There was no hot water on the first day because nobody had told us to switch the boiler on manually. We also didn't get a complimentary bottle of drinking water, which we're not used to, although there was a fruit basket. And no one checked in on us during the stay. We're used to service that feels much warmer and more welcoming. With more care, better cleaning, new mattresses and an honest description, this could be a beautiful villa. The location, terrace and view are excellent, but the rest falls far short of what I'd expect at this price.
