The pool gives you another place to take in the view, and it’s great for cooling off or spending time with family. The villa itself is wonderfully quiet despite the bustle of Athens, with several terraces looking out over the city. Andreas showed us around all three floors and explained the rooms after we first found the house a bit daunting. For about what you’d pay at many upscale Athens hotels, you can relax in the Greek sun and hear the cicadas.

You really have to stay here to understand it. Politia feels peaceful and close to nature, with quiet days and starry nights, while the place still has a luxurious side and a simple countryside feel. The architecture brings together old and new, and so much of what you see has been finished with care. It sits on a hill at about 600 meters above sea level in northern Athens. Congrats to the owner for following his heart and making it happen.

The house is spacious enough for a big family to stay comfortably, and the view is amazing. The owner was really friendly, too. I left my sunglasses behind and he went out of his way to get them back to us. I’d recommend staying here.
