Ikos Kissamos

The deluxe pool was a hit with our children, and Marianela was an absolute star. She served drinks and worked tirelessly to make sure we were okay. The staff are kind, hard-working, and really make a difference here. But I'd wait until the hotel is less like a building site and its issues have been sorted before visiting. We came for a week at Ikos Kissamos with our four children, staying in a two-bedroom deluxe room. We'd been to Odisia twice before and were excited to see what Kissamos offered, but the first night got off to a bad start. The bathroom flooded, the lights wouldn't turn off, and a bed was missing. Our requests went unanswered as maintenance staff kept coming through, promising to fix the mess later. We also tried booking a padel court, but both courts were frustratingly full for our entire seven-day stay.

It's our third year in a row at an Ikos resort, and Kissamos was a great addition to the family. The new facility has incredible views, and the staff, as usual, went above and beyond to make this a lifelong memory. Thank you!

The setting is beautiful and the people are lovely, but the resort opened months before it was ready. At these prices, guests shouldn't have to absorb the teething problems. We felt like paying guinea pigs. Maybe it will be good in six months, but we won't be back to find out. The most serious issue was my pregnant wife repeatedly being served alcohol after ordering non-alcoholic drinks. We raised it with staff more than once, and nothing changed. Getting it wrong once would be careless. Repeating it after being told is unsafe. If you don't drink or are pregnant, you can't trust what's in your glass. Beyond the main areas and pool, the grounds were visibly unfinished: wires sticking out of the gardens and paths, exposed fittings in bare earth, half-planted beds, and dust where landscaping should be. Several friends' rooms had holes in the walls and wires coming out of the floor. Broken glass and dirty plates sat beside a path for 12 hours during the day, with children and barefoot guests nearby. On another occasion, dirty plates and a glass stayed outside our room for over 24 hours. Service was slow or missing. We waited at least 40 minutes for pool drinks, and several orders never arrived. Drinks were repeatedly wrong, and room service got our order wrong three separate times. We only got a wine list, never the full drinks menu, so we had to ask blindly for soft drinks, mocktails, or cocktails. Turn-down service came at 10pm or not at all, and rooms weren't cleaned daily. When they were, it was in the early evening when we wanted to be in the room. Staff could take either a drinks order or a food order, not both, and at breakfast only certain staff could take coffee orders. A simple coffee and eggs could mean finding three different people and waiting between each. Arrival was also rough. There weren't enough cars for the airport transfer, so our group was split up and left waiting. At the resort there was no water or welcome drink, and we stood around for 30 minutes before anything happened. At the gym and indoor changing facilities, there were no hair dryers, towels ran out, and wires came out of the wall, not what you'd expect from a brand-new build. Admin was poor too. I got daily WhatsApp messages from a completely different resort in another country throughout the trip. Our return airport taxi was booked for 30 minutes before our flight instead of three hours ahead, which could easily have made us miss it.

The food and drinks were immense, and our garden room near the main pool was incredible. The children's facilities were great too. This was our seventh visit to an Ikos / Sani hotel, and we had a lovely time. It's a vast new hotel, impressive in many ways, though still finding its feet: some things weren't working and service could be slow. Still, a fantastic hotel.
