Pension Strawberry

The room itself was cozy, the bed clean and comfortable, and the linens smelled fresh. We also liked the terrace seating, lovely view, cared-for garden, and pool. Breakfast was tasty and filling, and overall I thought the accommodation was good. The bathroom was the letdown. We had read earlier reviews mentioning hygiene and accepted the risk because the place was inexpensive. It did have grimy tiles, uncleaned drains, mold in the shower, and a very old faucet. They cleaned daily, but this dirt needed a thorough deep clean and proper disinfection. There’s a lot of potential here, just be ready for a bathroom that may not be up to standard.

We came with kids, and I regret booking these apartments. There was visible mold on the walls in all the rooms, so I especially wouldn’t recommend it for children or anyone with respiratory problems. We had two rooms and the three-bedroom family unit. The kitchen in that unit smelled bad and had mold under the sink. One AC unit only blew air without cooling, and there was a hole in the wall behind the toilet. We saw a slug climbing out from behind it. The pool had green algae all around it, and the property seemed completely neglected. It felt overpriced for what we got. We tried contacting the “manager,” who was never on site, but our messages were ignored.

We wanted a quiet, relaxing break at the end of the season, and that’s what we got. The garden is lovely, the pool was OK, our room was cleaned daily, and breakfast was decent with good coffee. The staff were very nice, especially Clarissa, who helped us find a car for one day without charging too much. The beach is wide and clean, about a five-minute walk away, and the bus stop is very close. Bring supplies from Skiatos town, though, since everything closes after 5 October. We’d paid just a few euros for the plane tickets, and it was a nice place to unwind.

Lovely place and staff, and the service was very good for the price. Breakfast didn’t change from day to day, but there was always loads of it.
