Villa dell' Angelo

We had a really good time on our week away, though we basically just used the room to sleep. For the price, it seemed okay at first. The beach is close, and the bus stop outside goes anywhere on the island for €2.20 per person each way. The pool was clean, but very cold. Towels were changed every day. The room was very basic. The kettle kept boiling without switching off, and the bedding was damp when we arrived. Other guests arriving that day had damp bedding too, so we all hung it out to dry. There was no light for the walk back to the room at night, and the air conditioning was behind a cupboard so we couldn't feel it. The washing line and outdoor daybed were dirty. The bar at the apartments didn't feel very welcoming. There was no music, it was often shut, and we weren't allowed to take a drink back to our room. We had an adjoining room, and could see through the keyhole and hear the neighbours stirring a cup of tea and every word they said.

The pool and bar were decent, and getting into Skiathos town was easy from bus stop 14. Kolios beach is about a minute's walk through the back of the property. Our two-bedroom apartment, room 202, had a large balcony at the rear, with a small glimpse of the sea. Apartment 302 has the sea view. The fridge freezer worked well, and there was a small safe. Air conditioning was included in the main bedroom and living room. The apartment was very dated, with an old kitchen and limited cooking options and utensils, though the beds were comfortable. We had no hot water for most of the week, but our rep kept after the owner until it was fixed. Check-out is at 11 a.m., which is awkward if your pickup isn't until 6 p.m. You can leave luggage in the office behind the pool bar, but the shower room is just a small toilet with a shower hose.

Thanos made us feel welcome and gave plenty of useful advice about how to get where we needed to go. The complex is only a two-minute walk from Kolios beach, and the bus stop is right outside if you'd like to explore other beaches on the island. The pool area was lovely, with a good mix of sun loungers, beds and a shaded terrace. Our room was spacious and clean. The cleaner came daily to mop the floors, and changed the towels and bedding at least twice during our week.

We had a lovely week at Villa Dell’ Angelo. The pool and gardens were amazing, and the location was handy for local restaurants and a short walk from several beaches. The apartment was very spacious and had all the basics for self-catering. Angelo was friendly and welcoming, and the housemaid was lovely and kept the place spotless.
