George was friendly and helpful whenever we had a question or needed anything, which made everything feel easy and comfortable. We were two families with a 4.5 year old girl, and Villa Marilena in western Crete suited us perfectly. It’s clean and well equipped, with a homely feel. Our daughter loved the pool and swam every day. George came each morning to clear away leaves and little things that had blown into it, a thoughtful touch that showed how much he cared. From the terrace, Kolymvari Bay looks amazing and peaceful, especially over morning coffee or at sunset. We explored Kalathas and Afrata beaches and also went to Balos. Each was beautiful in its own way, and the area was great both for exploring and relaxing.

The host was welcoming and attentive to what guests wanted, and the area was peaceful with a superb view. We had a beautiful week and got to know everyday, real Crete. Just a few reasons for others to visit these lands, or come back.

The pool looks just as old, with cracked, dirty silicone sealant and accessories in appalling condition. The bathrooms are 30 years old, too. The place is run-down and neglected, and badly needs renovation!
