Irene Palace Beach Resort

I had an amazing time at this resort. The staff made me feel at ease from the start, and reception was fantastic. Nina and Anastasia were especially accommodating. I’ll definitely be back.

We stayed as two adults with one child and found it peaceful, with a cozy feel that made it easy to relax. The hotel isn’t very large, so the restaurant and outdoor areas didn’t feel swallowed up by crowds. For families, there’s plenty to do: a mini disco for kids every evening, daytime pool activities for children and adults, and simple but fun evening entertainment like Greek evenings, music and movie quizzes, and games for all ages. The beach is close by, though sunbeds cost extra. The rooms were spacious, tidy, and the hotel was clean. Staff were friendly and attentive, bringing drinks to the table at meals. We also thought the food was excellent, with everything we tried tasting delicious, much like food from traditional Greek taverns.

We had a very satisfying week here at the start of September with our 1.5-year-old. It’s mainly a place for families and retirees, but everyone seemed to get along and enjoy their holiday. The value for money is hard to beat, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. The hotel is older, but everything was clean, working, and in good condition. The food was plentiful, varied, and very tasty, with fresh fruit always available. The dining room and terrace were large enough that we could find a table, and there was a high chair for our child. Staff were kind, cheerful, and helpful. We appreciated the free baby cot and that reception let us extend checkout until the afternoon for a fee. There’s a small shop with essentials open until 11 pm, and the center of Kolymbia is about a five-minute walk. The hotel car rental service was popular with guests and also had child seats. There are lots of outdoor pools, from deep ones to shallow paddling areas, plus a fenced children's water area with fountains and slides. Lifeguards regularly watched all the pools. The grounds were nicely arranged with green spaces, palms, and banana trees along the paths, so there were quiet places to relax, sunbathe, or read. The sea is a two-minute walk down a path. Sunbeds and umbrellas on the beach cost extra, though you can put a towel down nearby. The entry into the sea had been cleared of large stones, making it comfortable to walk in. A note about some of the negative reviews here and on TripAdvisor: keep the price range of an all-inclusive holiday in mind. At about €1000 per person per week, I wouldn’t expect everything to be brand new or luxurious. Again, the older hotel was clean and functional, with no insects or mold. Noise from neighboring rooms can happen in almost any hotel. The food was high quality, varied, and tasty. There’s no bottled water in the rooms, but packs cost a few euros in the hotel shop if you don’t want tap water. We drank the tap water, including our child, and had no problems. People saving pool sunbeds early despite the rules happens at resorts where loungers are free, and it’s not realistic to punish everyone for badly behaved guests. This hotel is for families and retirees, who generally aren’t bothered by things like a bleach stain on a carpet. For the price, it’s a lot of music for little money, as we say back home. 😉

We had three lovely days here over the Greek Orthodox Easter holiday, staying as a family of four with kids aged 8 and 4. The family room was clean and freshly renovated, and the food was fresh, tasty, and plentiful, with lots of choices at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The kids loved the water slides, and there was a rich entertainment program for them. We made new memories and would definitely come back.
