Porto Marina Hotel

Our flights ran late, so we arrived around 00:30. Mario was closing the cafe downstairs but still met us, and even opened the kitchen again since we hadn’t eaten for hours. The maid comes every day and keeps the room in fantastic shape, with everything we need. We’ve had a phenomenal stay and can’t recommend the service enough. We’ll definitely return. Mario’s restaurant up the road, Bella Ellada, is worth trying too: great service and even better food!

The bed was really comfortable, and after a good night's sleep I started the day with Marios showing me around the village and dropping me at a nearby hotel for a buffet breakfast. I arrived close to 2 am on my first night after a delayed flight, exhausted, so finding a key on the desk with my name and room number was a relief. There was a bottle of water waiting too, which I really appreciated. I had a tuna salad at the cafe downstairs last night, a generous, delicious portion with good service. The young women working there were lovely and friendly, and the coffee is excellent. I’m enjoying my stay a lot. It’s easygoing, no drama, and feels like home. I’ve seen people say there’s never anyone at the desk, but you can find Mario in the cafe or ask the staff for help. Marios is a gent and a proper business man. The cleaner came in today, worked hard, and was great fun. She offered more towels and sheets, and the place is lovely and clean. It’s a cool place to stay, a short walk from Gouvia and the beach.

We stayed for 6 nights in a 3-bed room. It’s a quiet place with lots of parking, a cafe/bar to relax in, and an ideal base for exploring the island. Gouvia downtown is a 5-minute walk, and it was pretty easy to find. The landlord is also adding new rooms. Our room had a cuisine, but the induction cook seemed quite old, and the bathroom could use a renovation. Overall, I recommend staying here.

The staff were unbelievably kind and attentive. I wasn’t prepared to walk back to my room in the rain, and one of them lent me an umbrella.
