Hotel Sonia

Inside, Hotel Sonia is a pleasant surprise, much better than it looks from the street. It's just off the harbor, easy to find, and a short 950-metre walk from the ferry. The place seems to have been gutted and fully refurbished not long ago, since everything looks new. The beds are comfortable, the air conditioning is quiet and works well, the shower is hot and strong, and the fridge and kettle both work. The lighting is excellent and the WiFi is strong. Breakfast has enough variety, and you can serve yourself as much or as little as you like. They offer an airport transfer for 55 euros, or you can walk to the bus station and take a comfortable bus for 3.5 euros per person. Apparently taxis can be unreliable, but who knows. Keep the doors closed for the air conditioning to work, and don't expect much from the balcony, it's tiny. From outside, Hotel Sonia looks like somewhere you might pass by on this quiet side street. That'd be a mistake.

People can make the whole experience, and the staff here were extremely friendly and ready to help at any hour. That started with Yuna, the Italian lady at the desk during the day. I lost my key card and had to call management at 2 a.m. A lovely older lady came to help, still smiling. The hotel was great too, but the people really stood out. We'll absolutely look no further when staying in Kos.

I booked at the last minute while between travel jobs, and it worked out really well. I needed somewhere to sleep, catch up on computer work, and recharge. It's a lovely family-run place with the kindest people, and I felt welcome and safe as a woman traveling alone. The location is great, close to town and to less touristy restaurants while still being in a quiet area. My preferred beach club was a 15-minute walk away. I'd absolutely stay here again if I come back to Kos. Thank you!

The rooms were clean and our experience was excellent. The staff were kind and helpful, and the location is ideal if you're arriving by ferry or want to explore Kos Town and the old town. I highly recommend this place.
