I can’t comment on the villa, but if you’re a tourist eating at the restaurant, ask about prices first. I went with a hiking group and had been told the prices were good. I ordered pork souvlaki with tzatziki and a salad. The meat came with a few chips and the tzatziki, which was nice, but the salad came later. The meat cost over 17 euros and the salad another 7.50, nearly 25 euros for a small souvlaki meal. The quirky old owner seemed miserable and charged whatever he wanted.

This is such a warm, friendly place, full of lovable characters. It has a Greek version of Fawlty towers feel in the best way, with the occasional dropped plate and lovely family chaos. The cooking is delicious, and the beach is literally five minutes away. In two days I felt part of the community, like I was at home. I was travelling alone and felt very safe. The location is perfect. Go for a swim at sunset, when the beach is empty and beautiful. On my last day, one of their lovely dogs, diva, walked with me down to the beach alongside donkeys, swam with me, then walked back. Such a joy. At breakfast, people make you feel at home, sometimes greeting you with “would you like a Greek salad”. You can eat delicious fish and feel secluded but refreshed.

Pasquale and Giovanni were amazing hosts to our family of two adults and three children. While we were there, my daughter turned 18, and Pasquale went into town to get her a cake for the celebration. He also helped us arrange transport and made sure we had everything we needed.

We stayed in a lovely quiet area, just a five-minute walk from the beach, with easy transport into town. The food and drinks were really good and excellent value. We had an amazing stay and would come again.

The owners are very nice, and the bar and restaurant are in a lovely setting. There’s a beach nearby. But the place is far from anywhere, so you’ll need a car. We had one and spent a great time touring the island in our jeep. Skiathos is beautiful. We travel in Greece a lot and know places can be basic, but this was hugely disappointing. We don’t like complaining, and this is our first review, but the standard was poor. It was nearly the end of the season, yet our room felt very tired and we wouldn’t return. Though we heard the food was lovely, we never ate there because of the cleanliness. The room was very spacious, but the housekeeping was poor. The sheets weren’t changed during our 10 days, even after we asked. I knew because I’d spilled suncream on one and it was still there on day 10. Cleaners just folded the sheets over the bed each day. The bottom sheet was bobbly and worn, and the pillows were so stained we didn’t use them. Under the bed was dusty and full of fluff. Towels were changed only on day 7, after we pointed out that neither the bed nor towels had been changed. There were very few utensils, and cooking meant using an old two-ring hotplate on top of the units. We also had to empty every day the bowl outside that caught drips from the air conditioning.
