Domotel Kea

The room was the biggest disappointment. We were told we’d been upgraded to a private pool room, although we’d booked a room with a pool already. The pool was tiny, barely big enough for one person, and the room looked onto other rooms with no view. It felt dated and bare, just a white wall, a bed, and little else. The shared spaces also seemed tired and lacking character, especially compared with other places on the island. Breakfast was poor too: stale bread, juice from concentrate, and badly cooked eggs. For the high price, we expected much better quality, design, and atmosphere. Our next hotel cost less and was on a completely different level for looks, service, and the overall stay. The one person who really stood out was the gentleman at reception. He was welcoming and professional, and took time to point out island highlights when we arrived. We were two couples staying in early July after a family member recommended the hotel based on a visit years ago. The welcome was a good start, but the rest of the visit fell short. The online photos are misleading, and I don’t see how the hotel can call itself four-star. I didn’t find it good value, and hope they improve the interiors, breakfast, and guest experience.

The room was dirty and smelled awful, apparently of mold, and the smell reached the headboard. There was a dead bug in the shower and sand in the corners, so we had to ask reception to send someone to clean it before we could settle in. No towels had been left in the room either. When we asked, the receptionist gave us beach towels; she seemed puzzled when we requested a basic hand towel, and gave us another large beach towel instead. We saw that other guests had proper white towels. The Agoda listing also claimed the hotel had parking, but street parking isn’t a proper facility. That was frustrating and misleading. We did appreciate being offered a late check-out without having to ask. For a place calling itself four-star, the hygiene, service, and room condition were deeply unsatisfactory. The rooms stink and aren’t clean, which was the dealbreaker for us. It wasn’t worth the price.

The private pool was my favourite spot to hang out, and the whole stay at Anamar Kea was the best vacation ever. Mr Stelios gave us such a warm welcome that we felt at home right away. The boutique hotel is peaceful and quiet, right next to a beautiful beach. Our room was cleaned perfectly, and breakfast was tasty with lots of choice. 5/5!

We booked through booking.com, though calling the hotel might get you a better deal. The hotel is lovely, with nice amenities, and our room was spacious and really comfortable, with a mini pool.
